Don’t you just love cashmere?

Hey everyone,

I know, I know, I’m on a major neutrals kick lately…. ah well. Guess its just trying to use something that will last the whole day without looking messed up after I’m done with chasing kids. Its the hols and this mummy is tired…

k… on with the EOTD for today… stash shopping again, this time trying *not* to use TSS at all… so here’s what I came up with.

From SilkNaturals website – description & swatches:

Dolce- copper brown shimmer- MAC Sweet Sienna clone

my thots : Love the ever so slight glitter in this e/s. And it does a fab job at defining my crease when I’m going for a ‘nude’ look.

 sndolce

Cashmere- shimmery nude pink

my thots : this is one of those colors I love using all over my lid. It brightens up my eyes and gives me a polished look without making me look ‘made up’. If that makes any sense whatsoever.

 SNcashmere

Monistat – all over eye area
NYX Jumbo eye pencil in yoghurt – on lid and smudged
SN’s Cashmere – patted on the lid and blended upwards til brow
SN’s Dolce – crease
Maybelline’s gel liner in brown – upper liner

I’ll be leaving on a road trip with my family and parents to Melaka this weekend so I’ll catch up with posts when I get back. I sure hope I can stop myself from buying a hundred and one things. Sigh. I know that getting my beaded sandals redone is definitely a must do. :D

more from A Girl Like Me…

Wanted to play up A Girl Like Me more after using it as a blending color in the earlier eotd. Used a different color placement this time. Less of a smokey eye look. Photos were taken after a long day hence the slight clumping at the crease line, slight fall out below the eye and the shiny skin.

DSC09001

  • Monistat – all over eye base
  • NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Yoghurt – all over lid smudged
  • TSS Beyond Skin Deep – patted on lid and as a highlight on brow bone
  • TSS A Girl Like Me – on the crease and up towards the brow bone
  • TSS Biggest Impact – used a small angled brush and drew in a darker line right at the crease and blended upwards
  • Majolica Majorca liquid liner in BL603 (blue)

A Girl Like Me Click’ed with Fleeting Wisdom

So I thought I’d shop my stash for some neutrals. In particular, I looked for some browns.

The two darker browns were from one of the first e/s that I ever purchased from TheSheSpace. I think it was one of the collections from June 2008. I didn’t buy the whole collection of “A Stone’s Throw”. The two lighter colors are from the Live Inspired collection which dates back to Fall 2008. I have the entire collection of that and I think it marks the start of my TSS madness. :P

In particular, I absolutely love Beyond Skin Deep. Its the perfect neutral shade for my skin tone. Many times, I find myself wearing this color all over my eye area with just a colored liner for that bit of drama.

DSC09035

  • Monistat – all over base
  • NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in French Fries – all over lid and smudged
  • TSS Fleeting Wisdom – patted on lid
  • TSS Click – used a crease brush to blend it upwards past the crease
  • TSS A Girl Like Me – to blend Click and Beyond Skin Deep together
  • TSS Beyond Skin Deep – highlight under the brow

DSC09033DSC09032

and here are the e/s descriptions

Fleeting Wisdom - Darkest tree bark brown with flashes of sheer crystal twinkle

Click - Deep dark chocolate with hints of bronze and copper

A Girl Like Me - Sheer plum with a hint of cocoa and gold twinkle

Beyond Skin Deep - Velvety bisque with a hint of soft rose

Starburst copied…

First time I saw the video tutorial for this look, I said ‘too bright’ and ‘pink… ewwww!’ But the look stayed in my head for more than a week and I started to try and figure out how I could copy it. Why? well, just cos it’d be something I’ve never done before.

First up, what to use? minerals? or one of my palettes? Minerals was my first choice so I started swatching…

Now although I know I don’t normally buy yellows or pinks much less reds… I plowed through my collection of minerals and turned up with these red/pinks…

  • Beauty from the Earth Rasberry
  • SilkMinerals Strawberry
  • SilkMinerals Pomegranate
  • TSS Vampires Tap Dancing (LE Storybook)
  • Aromaleigh lookinforakiss
  • Aromaleigh peony

DSC08931

DSC08934

nice pinks, not reds, but to me, they looked a little too blue for the eotd I was going for… still looking for that elusive red…

finding yellows was equally challenging…

DSC08938 DSC08940

do you see a problem? I did… no really pure yellow yellows. more golds and bronzey golds. Sigh…

I finally resorted to following VoT’s suggestions on using the 88 matte palette and 120 palette. And here was what I came up with… only thing I left out was the false eyelashes.

  • Monistat – base
  • NYX jumbo eye pencil in strawberry milk
  • from the 88 matte palette – pink, red and white
  • from the 120 palette – yellow
  • Majolica Majorca liquid liner in black
  • Maybelline mascara

So do you think I got close enough to my target? let me know.

Who let the dogs out…

this is a quad that I’ve not given enough love to… its so easy to use and the colors blend smoothly into each other.

The highlight was from DreamWorld Ice Fairey and

coming from Dayna’s Minerals (DM), this is…

Hi Jack, Baby Popo and Mr Sully

DSC08905

DSC08924   DSC08921

In particular, I love Mr Sully… the little sparkles lift this color to a whole ‘nother level.

And here’s how I used them…

  • Monistat – base
  • NYX jumbo eye pencil in french fries – on the lid smudged upwards
  • DM’s Hi Jack all over the lid
  • DM’s Baby Popo in the crease
  • DM’s Mr Sully in the outer v
  • DW’s Ice Fairey just under the brows
  • UD’s 24/7 liner in electric

Simple violet eotd

here’s a super easy look I did the other day.

Used monistat as a base all over the eye area. Then slathered NYX’s jumbo eye pencil in lavender on the lid area and smudged it outwards and upwards. Used a nice big flat brush to pat Ulta’s Violet eyeshadow all over the lid and blended upwards to the brow. Finally topped off with UD’s 24/7 liner in electric.

DSC08994 DSC08995

if you see little orange beads in my brow hairs… well, it was the end of the day and I was washing up using JustFr0nd’s AHA Exfoliating cleanser. :)

Spring Time from BFTE

Here’s a nice “spring green” look from Beauty from the Earth. Not that we have spring here in Singapore. Actually, its been hot, hotter and hottest. I should do more of a desert eotd sometime. That’s how I feel… How I wish it’d just rain really hard and clear the air.

DSC08846

Monistat – base all over the eye
NYX Jumbo Eye pencil in Horse Radish – all over lid and smudged up
BFTE Lavish – patted all over the lid
BFTE Gem – outer V and crease; outer lower lash line
BFTE Aqua Mist – mid lower lash line; upper crease blended upwards into
BFTE Butterfly – highlight; inner lower lash line
MM Perfect liquid liner in Green

DSC08852 DSC08850DSC08854

Some descriptions from BFTE’s site

Lavish : Green-Yellow with medium sheen.

Gem : A hybrid of Teal and Sea Green.

What kind of greens do you like? the more jewel tones? or the more turquoise?

Using glows and blush as eye shadow

For the 2nd day of Chinese New Year, I wanted a simply defined eye. Nothing too drama.

There’s been quite a few video tutorials on defined neutral eyes so with the tips I picked up… here’s my version.

Monistat – base
NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Yoghurt – all over lid; smudged up to crease
SilkNaturals Perfecting Glow in Splendid – patted all over eye area up to brow bone
SilkNaturals Cocoaberry blush (discontinued) – crease
TSS The Doll House (LE grab bag) – brow highlight; inner 1/2 lower lash line
NYX Jumbo Eye pencil in Blackbean – upper lash line
TSS Bit by Glitz (LE Something Twinkling ‘08) – patted on top of blackbean); outer 1/2 lower lashline

DSC08823 DSC08822     DSC08816 DSC08815

finally got eyeshadow to look nice on my lower lash line… and its all thanks to my lovely new ELF small angled brush… look out for my review coming up :)

A Prosperous Start to the New Year

Gong Xi! Gong Xi! To my chinese readers… may the year be filled with good fortune and lots to eat! and above all “shen ti jian kang”! (gee I hope I get that hypy right… :P)

The first day was a looooooong tiring day of visiting, dealing with sugar high kids and a homebody hubby who just wanted to go home. We covered a total of 9 homes… starting out from home at 7.30 and finishing at about 4. Headed back to my mom’s place for some r&r before two more aunties and assorted cousins visited in the evening. By staying those extra hours at my mom’s, I ‘escaped’ having to visit two more houses. *grin*

Finally reached our home at 9.30. Super tired… my kids just washed up and it was “lights out”. Even my hubby slept pretty early.

By 10.30, when I was finished sorting and clearing stuff, all I could hear was the collective chorus of snores. Rather heart warming… but then maybe I’m just strange.

So here’s my look for the first day… tried out a new pair of half falsies – Ardell Accents Lashes 301. Used them with the DUO lash glue. They got glued on at 6.45am.

Ardell Accents Lashes 301

Impressions : easier to use than full lashes and I didn’t run about the whole day feeling like I had spiders on my lids. On the whole, very happy with them. They added length at the ends where it mattered. Only thing I’d do different the next time would be to put mascara on and curl my lashes before putting these babies on.

On to the EOTD (as usual, click thru for bigger pics) :

  • Monistat – base
  • NYX jumbo eye pencil in baby blue
    • smudged all over lid and up into the crease
    • to take off some of the ‘redness’ aka warmth from the shades I was using next
  • TSS The Doll House (LE Grab Bag)
    • patted all over lid
    • used under the brows as a highlight
  • TSS Goodness and Grace (LE Ho Ho ‘08)
    • 1/3 out lid and up to the crease and blended to the brow bone
  • TSS One Stuck Sleigh (LE Ho Ho ‘08)
    • outer v and blended
  • Majolica Majorca Neo liquid liner in black (999)
    • upper lash line
  • Maybelline’s Volum’ Express Turbo Boost mascara in black
  • Inuovi’s brow pencil in Cocoa

DSC08776  DSC08777

Face :

  • Biore’s Radiant Sunscreen lotion
  • SilkNatural’s foundation and perfecting powder blend

Cheeks :

  • Canmake blush in 05
  • SilkNaturals’ blush in Climax and Babydoll (mixed)

Lips :

DSC08800DSC08799

DSC08794DSC08791

And here’s what my eotd looked like at 9.45pm…  the lashes stayed put (even though I’d brought both glue and liner just in case)… minimal creasing near the tear duct. Hardly any fading I could see.

Really, for me, NYX jumbo eye pencils combined with TSS e/s are my HG for long wearing looks that last through heat, humidity and super long days.

random eotd

here’s a totally random eotd… done a couple days ago using TSS shades. I’ve totally forgotten what I used. Sorry.

I am officially broke… (final part)

My final purchase from Watson’s was the Cream/Gel EyeLiner by Maybelline EyeStudio. Such a long name for my first very little pot of gel liner. :P

It comes with a little brush which I found rather easy to use. Granted, I haven’t washed it yet and already used it. So I might change my mind after I wash it. Still, for now, I’m happy with it. Its super stiff.. more like a very little palette knife than a brush. It smooths on the liner with very little problems.

Here’s some swatches showing how how thin/thick you can get the line using their brush.

DSC08649DSC08650

I did a very simple look for going out then spent a couple of minutes playing with it a little more when I got home. (This was done while my AHA Exfoliating cleanser was on so the photos are gonna be rather closely cropped.)

Here’s what I came up with.

The most dramatic winged liner look I’ve tried so far

DSC08665DSC08666

And here’s a double winged look… is that the right term?

DSC08672  DSC08670

I’ve used it practically every time I’ve used makeup this week and am really liking this product. It can give me both a subtle addition to the lashline and a dramatic strong line. Plus it lasts on me for more than 12 hours without any serious smudging. While I wouldn’t give up my MM liquid liners or my JEP with e/s on top, any time soon… this will definitely be added to my list of commonly used items.

That’s it from me for now… off to get ready for a workshop and then church.

Have a great weekend everyone!
