WLC update

well, Cat has called a ‘recess’ on the WLC… and to be honest, I haven’t really been keeping up with her challenges either. *naughty frond!*

Still am pleased to report that I have lost about 2 kg and kept it off for more than a month now. I’m below the horrid 70kg mark so am feeling pretty good.

Am still trying to stay as active as I can. Have roped in the kids sometimes to get my butt off my computer chair and downstairs to the playground. Moving is so much better than sitting, don’t you think?

Anyways until Cat get the challenges back up… I won’t really update on this topic much.

WLC #8, #9 and #10

Hi Cat! *waves* noticed you just popped by my blog… sincere apologies in not posting lately…

ok… haven’t forgotten about you or the challenge. Just life has kinda overwhelmed me. Plus its the short school holidays so I’m ooozing kid demands. Really really hope they all go back to school soon! sigh… blogging has really taken the low spot in the long list of life’s priorities.

BUT exercise and watching what I eat is becoming a lifestyle habit. :)

ok reports… I’m pleased to say I’ve cracked the 70kg mark! I dropped about 1.5 kg so far… finally some progress. LOL! I’m really proud of myself for sticking with the game plan this long even with no actual weight loss for so many weeks.

WLC #8 challenge -

The challenge for this week is to tell me why you are taking part in this challenge? why did you sign up? do you feel you have achieved anything?

why…

why do I want to continue lugging along weight that I’ve carried for almost 9 years now… weight that I acquired while pregnant with my first child.

why wouldn’t I wanna spend some time/energy to take care of myself? If I don’t bother to, who will?

why wouldn’t I enjoy the company of other like-minded people with similar goals? already I have another friend who is posting her results on a regular basis and she’s not even in the WLC group. You all inspire me and keep me going when I lose heart and wanna quit.

why? why not?

what I’ve achieved… a more active lifestyle… more aware of my food intake… feel better overall :)

WLC #9 challenge -

Food Diary!

erm, I don’t really take note of what I eat and carring a food diary around with me just isn’t practical. I’m just not that meticulous… so sorry, ain’t gonna do this particular challenge. my to-do list is way too long already :(

WLC #10 challenge -

this weeks challenge is to tell me 3 things you think have changed about yourself since you started the challange, they can be physical or mental or anything you want!!

1. I need to tighten my belt on my pants.. am considering getting new ones but not right now. :P

2. higher energy levels. feel better through the day.

3. smaller tummy size! since I’ve been watching what I eat, I find I’m eating less and my tummy is getting used to that. Plus, I don’t eat past 8pm now and the other day, we had a late dinner… just couldn’t finish my food. It was crazy. My tummy just kept saying “no!”. It wasn’t full but it didn’t want the food in it. That’s a good thing right?

that’s it for me for now… kids are calling. Like that’s unusual.. sigh..

I *need* a kid free 24 hours!!! soon!!!! I’d settle for an afternoon off too. :P

WLC #7

Heya, if you’re looking for makeup entries… they’re coming.. I promise… all lined up in my phone (the pics that is)… and in my head. Just haven’t had the time to sit down, get the pics downloaded and blog about it.

My schedule this year is really so full of things that need to be done and kids that need to be taken care of. Really learning that a mother’s life is not one of tea breaks and computer time but of rushing from point a to b to c to a and dealing with whines/demands/complaints/squabbles at the same time. All fun stuff!

Don’t get me wrong, I am so proud of my kids and I love them to bits. Just wish they’d give me a break a little more often.

Here goes my youngest with his “I wan mummy” plaint… and off I go again…

WLC #6

I was going to do a video for this week but its been so horrendously busy… this will have to do.

I knew going into this week that I was gonna be faced with massive amounts of yummilicious food… seriously… I mean what is Chinese New Year without bak kua (bbq pork slices), pineapple tarts, love letters, cashew nut cookies, peanut cookies… the list is endless. Then you have my lovely darling mother who believes in feeding everyone chocolate… different kinds.. different sizes… different combinations… Its a diet disaster waiting to happen!

So I went into the season giving myself 4 days to eat anything I wanted. Of course, I did practice moderation and stopped many times before I wanted to… even left the table once to continue the chatting elsewhere cos I was snacking way too much.

The result… well, I’m still the same weight. No more, no less. Seems like this is the weight my body wants to be at the moment. Did take a 4 day ‘holiday’ from exercising but have started again beginning Wednesday. I either have to ramp up my ‘move my body’ program or I have to seriously watch what I’m eating… am way too reluctant to do either… sigh…

Cat’s challenge this week was to share what we’ve learnt over the last 6 weeks. For me, I think its patience and perseverance. I just have to keep plugging away at getting more physically active and I do believe over time, my body will show the results I’m looking for. Its taken years to get to this point… it might take a while to persuade ‘settled’ fats to move on out. :P

Its also been fabulous to have a group of gals who are doing the same thing. Having them at the back of my mind helps me to control what I eat and also what I do in terms of exercise. While I haven’t lost any weight, I have become 200% more active than I was before. In my books, that’s a very good thing.

Til next week… keep those bodies moving and keep that smile on your face :D

random rambling thoughts

Been kinda quiet cos have lost my mojo on the m/u front… sad huh?

Plus have been super busy getting things ready for Chinese New Year. The usual spring cleaning and sorting out of rubbish for 5 people takes time and energy.

I still am doing my 20 floors a day plus cycling. But there’s no difference on the weight front… still holding steady. Whether that stays the same after yesterday and the next 3 days of eating… is anyone’s guess.

Cat’s WLC challenge this week is to expain what I’m getting from doing this. Well, for me, like I’ve said in a previous video… the focus has moved off from weight loss to getting my butt moving. And given that new focus, I’m achieving that goal. Definitely getting more exercise and on a daily basis than I was before Cat’s idea.

On the beauty front, so far I’ve gotten these items ticked off

- refilled my powder pot (my usual mix of SilkNatural’s perfecting powder, date bait, silica); refilled my foundation pot (SilkNatural’s ebony/buttery gold/ivory foundation, zinc, silica). I’m good for another 2-3 months :P

- did a pumpkin masque plus honey oat masque for my face. Its clean and soft now.

– did a hair masque using my favourite silk protein and shampoo… held it all in with a shower cap while…

- sitting in a nice long relaxing bath using dead sea salts, lavender/rose geranium eo and silk protein. Scrubbed and scrubbed using exfoliating gloves. I’m squeaky clean and soft now.

- painted my fingernails with Skin Food’s Jojoba pure nail in BE003. Its kinda an antique gold shade

- painted my toenails with Misa’s “come and get it”. That’s a base color of pink with a holographic blue/purple tinge on top.

- did the same for my girl… except opposite. What I had on my fingers, she got on her toes.

I do need to decide what I’m gonna use for m/u tomorrow. That’s completely up in the air. Should I go with plums or with golds… decisions, decisions.

now back to finishing my to do list… ang pows are next…

GONG XI FA CAI everyone!

My life story … kinda… *grin*

This post was kinda inspired by one of the other WLC gals. It was a fun ‘break’ from my currently pressurized regular life to go through my old pics looking for suitable images to show my ‘progress’ over time.

Since young, I’ve always been on the lower end of the ‘average’ weight zone. Almost underweight but not. It was a case of I could eat as much as I wanted and nothing would get converted to ‘fat’. Lucky me huh?

This pic was taken in 1998. I was in my late teens. (yes, WLC gals.. I’m sooo much older than most, if not all, of you!!) At this point, I was about 55kg.

You’ve already seen a pic of me when I was on my honeymoon so here’s the next step in my ‘weight gain’ process.

I got PREGNANT! It was amazing how much weight I managed to put on… by the end of my first pregnancy, I’d added close to 20kg. It is to date, really my highest weight point – 78kg.

This pic was taken on my birthday… my first child arrived 9 days later. :P Anyone wanna say… moonface?? LOL!

DSC08736

And this is my after, complete with baby :D Can you tell I’m hiding my bulk? LOL! Weight point soon after this pic was about 70kg.

DSC08737

I’ve had two other kids since then and each time, I put on weight but managed to come back to the 70kg mark.. and I’m still there… even after almost a month of exercising.

Alright, so there’s no video this week. I’m just over my head with stuff… but… Cat’s challenge this week was to introduce a healthy dish.

Frankly speaking, I don’t cook. My husband does. I just eat… *big grin*

So here’s kinda what I’ve been eating for breakfast. Would that count as a dish Cat?

Cut up one fuji apple – I like them in thin slices
Cut up half a mango into cubes…
mix on a plate, sit in front of the computer and clear emails while snacking.

Til next week… :D

WLC #2

First up, yes, I know… I haven’t posted in an entire week. Life seems to be like that. One week I’ve got free time to spare and the next, I’m swamped with life and work. Will try to do better.

Cat’s challenge this week was to post a picture that we liked about ourselves. While, this one that I chose was taken during my honeymoon… that was a happy time and lots of lovely memories.

P1010103

In terms of weight, haven’t lost anything at all… want to be discouraged but I do know I’ve been doing my best given the time I have and I do feel I’m becoming physically stronger. So… guess I’ll just have to be patient a little more.

Exercise this week was about 20 stories/floors each day – split up into 10/5/5. Its 8 steps per flight and two flights per storey/floor. I don’t even wanna think how many steps I’m doing. LOL! Biked my kids around too… plus tried to take the stairs where it was available.

The plan for this week… ramp up my iGallop workout (at least 3x this coming week). Got hold of the VCD for that so will be following the workout session there. I seriously expect to ache by the time I’m done. Would really like to strengthen my core (aka abs!). Will continue with my 20 storeys a day and sporadic biking.

Will also try and do more posts this week… mustn’t slack too long :P

WLC #1

I’m not the type to do New Year resolutions… they don’t work for me. What I do do is think long and hard about doing something, then once I’m sure that I’m sure that I’m sure that I want to do it… well, I do it.

And for 2010, I've decided to fulfil my long held wish of toning up and maybe even trimming down. I started with a fruit lunch the first week of Jan. Lots of water and fruit to stave off hunger pangs til dinner time.

Then on Monday, I started with a short  11 min session on our elliptical trainer. I covered 5km and for my trouble… had achy thighs and calves the next morning. But I’m determined not to complain and to keep going til I do reach my goal.

Then I sat down to do my daily blog reading using Google Reader. I’m a regular reader of various beauty blogs and personal blogs of friends… this time a post from Rebecca from PandaDoesMakeup caught my eye.

She was talking about a Weight Loss Challenge that Cat from Cat’s Little Obessions was running. Its for a period of 12 weeks and is meant as just a group of like minded ladies providing moral support to each other while trying to shed some pounds (about 2 a week hopefully).

That sounded like it was meant for me… but upon reading Cat’s blog, I realised I had missed the deadline for signing up. Hoping for a reprieve I emailed Cat explaining the situation. The darling said… “i'll make an exception just this once for you”. *hugs*

So I’m IN!… yay! more support for me…

Her first challenge was to list 3 things that you like about yourself. The idea is to start focusing on the positives.

So here’s my three (I focused on my face)

1. Ear lobes – I got pretty “buddah-ish” type lobes. Good for earrings

2. Lips – I got a pretty defined cupid’s bow. No need to draw in. Easy to use lipsticks to fill in color.

3. Double eye lids – am so thankful I have them. I think learning how to do eye shadow would be harder if I had monolids. Most tutorials out there deal with the caucasian type eye not the asian eye.

She encouraged us to do videos instead of just blogs so we could see the changes over time. I thought that was a good idea… but… video.. scary!!!! and I didn’t know how to do it.

But I remembered playing with my kids on our new MAC powerbook and that has a in built camera which is pretty clear. So here’s the result…

Today, I cycled my kids to school then went to the supermarket to buy laundry detergent. Then it was on to our OSIM iGallop for a 30 min session targetting my core. Next up was 5 mins on the elliptical machine.

I really want to keep up the momentum… wish me luck?

p/s this is not gonna turn into a weight loss blog… don’t worry :P
