silk minerals pearl e/s

got these a while ago… couldn’t resist buying more colors from the Pearl range at Silk Minerals. They are so easy to use and have such a lovely sheen to them. Not overly sparkly but more pearlescent.

I found that if I buffed them out… they imparted an almost glow from within kinda color. Whether you’re just starting out with e/s or a long time user, you’ll bound to fall in love with them. I know I did.

DSC05424DSC05421

here are some eotds using the new colors. I lined all with MM’s liquid eyeliner in black. For color placement, I used one shade patted heavily on the lid and blended upwards til it reached the brow bone. Monistat was used as a base. Brows were courtesy of DM’s Just Browsing Brown.

Cyan… blended upwards

Spring green…

Orchid… if I’m not wrong… I think I used HIP’s green liner… I can’t remember :(

Violet liner - eotd

Here’s another rather simple look I did using one of my few MAC pigments gifted to me by a dear friend.

DSC05345

I can’t remember exactly what Capricon (TSS) colors I used and the picture isn’t clear. Sigh… definitely used MAC Violet as my liner.

Love the vividness of this color… gotta play with it more. :)

Grab Bag Fun!

Like Ann mentioned in her post… this 20pc grab bag from TheSheSpace (TSS) actually came about 2 weeks ago.

It took me a week to pluck up enough courage to open all the jars and start dividing them up for distribution. By nature, I have this perfectionistic streak that’s a mile wide. So when faced with a jar that needed to be divide 4 ways… well, put it this way… it wasn’t a pretty picture.

To cut a long story short, after much wailing to various people via MSN and three long afternoons, I did finish it… one tiny scoop at a time (for those interested, it takes about 8 scoops per bag to divide a jar into four) Ann posted a picture of my finished product (courtesy of Ann). I dare say that it looked rather professional and lovely. :P

Anyways, to cut to the chase… here are the pretty colors we got. Swatches will be later! sorry gals… no time… and my borrowed Twilight DVD is waiting for me to watch… LOL!

MMBB’s Purifying Moisture range – a review

ok, so as promised, here’s a review of MMBB’s Purifiying Antioxident cleanser and serum.

Verdict : I’m so loving both of them!

Purifying Moisture Cleanser (PC)

Organic Aloe Juice, Organic Rooibos Tea Extract, Organic Olive Oil, Cocoamidopropyl Betaine, Emulsifying Wax NF, Kosher Vegetable Glycerin, MSM,Organic Jojoba Oil, Decyl Glucoside, DMAE, Organic Green Tea Extract, Vitamin E, HA, Activated Charcoal, Organic White Tea Extract, Organic Lichen Extract,Organic Black Willowbark Extract,Vitamin B Complex, Vitamin C Ester,Xanthan Gum

Like Lisa initially described, this is a greyish-purplish cleanser. It doesn’t have the strong smell that some people have noticed in the Miracle in a Bottle (MIB) cleanser so that may please some. PC also doesn’t strip the skin until it feels taut and squeaky clean – an effect I get with MIB. It leaves the skin feeling clean and supple.

I’m finding myself using PC more and more often. On days when I feel I need more oil to be cleaned off, I reach for my MIB… on every other day, I’m reaching for my PC!

This cleanser would be especially good for gals with combo to dry skin, in my opinion. As it cleans without stripping off all the much needed moisture in the skin’s surface.

Purfying Moisture Serum (PS)

Organic Aloe Juice, DMAE, Organic Jojoba Oil, Organic Rooibos Tea Extract, Emusifying Wax NF, Organic Green Tea Extract, Kosher Vegetable Glycerin, Organic White Tea Extract, Vitamin E, HA, Vitamin B3, MSM, Organic Black Willowbark Extract,Xanthan Gum

This serum is my answer for daytime moisture!

my much loved ultimate serum gave way too much moisture resulting in oil slicks pretty quickly… as a result, I used half the normal amount during the day or usually chose not to use it at all at the expense of a little dryness.

with PS, it goes on feeling oily. In fact, during my initial tryouts, I felt like I put too much cos my face felt soooo oily. However, I was pleasantly surprised when 5 mins later, it seemed like my skin just sucked up all the goodness and what I was left with was a smooth soft skin surface. Lovely!

The serum itself is a white creamy liquid (unlike the yellowish/brown almost syrupy texture of the Ultimate serum) that is easy to blend on to the face. I put a 10cent size dollop in my palm, rub my palms together and smear it all over my face. If you find it too thick, try adding some mist to your palm before rubbing your hands together. (personally, I find this mist trick an easy way to dilute anything that I find too thick for me) Easy :)

My nose isn’t too sensitive and I don’t smell anything from this. :P

This serum, I feel, would suit the more oily skin types for night time use. For dryer skins, it doesn’t quite give the treatment I’d like for night time BUT it does answer my daytime needs with great finesse.

Verdict repeated : am so loving both these products and have stocked up on both.

do refer here and here for my normal face cleansing/moisturizing routines. And let me know if you’d like to try some samples too.

A super simple eotd

This is an eotd from a day when I just wanted a bit of a pick me up without doing the full works. I wore no foundation and no lippie. Just a light layer of SN’s perfecting powder. It was really just about a simple eye to brighten up a dull face.

Monistat – base
Silkygirl liner in Ocean – liner
TSS Feast for the Eyes – patted onto the ocean liner
TSS Consult the Heavens – crease (I did it in the eye socket area.. not my actual crease)
SN Perfecting Powder – all over the eye
Brows – Just browsing black from DM

DSC05208DSC05207 DSC05206

Actually only added the contour color later when I felt the look needed a little something more. Consult the Heavens just helped define and added dimension to an otherwise flat look.

RAOKs

I’m such a blessed person with loving caring generous friends. Here’s three other RAOKs that I’ve received this past month.

not in order of receipt…

from Ann,

a lovely bar of LureBeauty’s Sweetened Honey and Emu Oil Soap, two big pots of SN Tempt Trust and SN Love Lure + plain perfecting powder, MMBB undereye cream sample, Indelible gel liners in blackout, marcasite, peacock and tanzanite, Earthern Minerals in Jaded.

I am half way through my Filthy Farmgirl soap and was looking out for a new bar when Ann offered to pass me this to try. Sure am looking forward to it. :)

The gel liners have kinda dried up although the colors look fab. So I tried to rehydrate them with some glycerin… not that it was very successful. So I’m still trying to figure out what to do about dried up gel liners… any ideas?

EM’s Jaded looks really pretty and I’m looking forward to trying it out both as a base and as cream shadow.

and last but not least (and not photographed), she put everything into a MAC bag! My MAC collection is slowly but surely growing. To date, I have a MAC e/s sleeve, a MAC bag, three MAC e/s pigment samples and a f/s MAC SS! yay!

on a totally random note, another friend commented that I’m definitely a MAC person given my sheer love for colors. After thinking about it, I kinda agree. Give me a collection that’s colorful and I’d probably buy it. Give me a collection of neutrals… and I’d go… nah… no thanks. Go figure… *giggle*

DSC05189 DSC05190

Here’s an unexpected surprise from a gentle lady who takes care of my children in church plus she visits us about once a week. A really caring loving person.

She is a Laneige user and got me a whole collection of samples to try out plus a super pink e/s. The color to be honest was scary… but I love that there was a mirror on the back. Anyways, I gave this one back to her as I really don’t see myself using PINK much. :)

DSC05195 DSC05194

The one product that got my attention was the strawberry yoghurt pack. You open it and you smell strawberries. Not the fake kind of chemical strawberry smell but the kind that you get when you bite into a lucious juicy strawberry… yum!

 DSC05193

official description :

- This massage pack makes you feel the highly enriched strawberry yogurt texture without worrying about runny contents.
- Yogurt extract makes skin soft and strawberry extract gives a clean and healthy appearance.
- The larger capsule contains mineral water (with tomato, kiwi, grape, banana, and lemon extracts and essential minerals including calcium, magnesium and zinc) and lactic acid bacteria for an added nutrition and moisture to your skin.
- Vitamin E ingredients contained in the smaller capsule are absorbed into skin to make it smoother and healthier.
- Simple massaging at home turns dry skin supple and moisturized.

Can’t wait to try it :)

DSC05191

the rest of the collection: quick massage gel, power essential skin refiner, balancing emulsion 1, moisture fitting base and natural pure makeup base.

I’ll try them all out and report back on what I find.

last package… from a galfriend, Purple76.

a lovely little cloth bag and some of TSS’ black primer.

DSC05318

from the bottom of my heart… THANK YOU!!
